The first COVID 19 infected citizen in Albania was identified on 9th of March 2020. Immediately afterwards the government established a series of measurements to reduce the spread and flatten the infection curve. All citizens were asked to stay at home in isolation and wherever possible to work from home. The effects of the isolation were harsher on the most vulnerable population and increased the risk for higher number of abuse, especially in children and women.

Under such circumstances the work of the protection workers did not stop but it was differed into providing assistance through respecting the isolation and social distancing rules. Aiming at offering knowledge and skills to the protection workers, Save the Children in Albania and Terre des Hommes Albania are introducing a series of webinars on effects and response to the situation created by COVID 19.

The first webinar is mainly targeting Child Protection Workers in Albania as well as Needs Assessment and Referral Unit (NARU) workers. It will be led by dr. Anila Sulstarova who will help participants understand and offer First Psychosocial Aid to the target groups they are involved. Alongside, the webinar will offer several techniques and orientation into the well-being of the professionals and how to protect their mental health under the circumstances that affect themselves and their families.
