Аn Alternative Way for Addressing Youth: Benefits of diversion for young people in conflict with the law [ChildHub webinar in Bulgarian]

The webinar is designed for professionals working with children in conflict with the law.

The webinar is organized by Program for the Development of the Judicial System Association and  Know-how centre for alternative care for children, NBU. 

The webinar aims to familiarize participants with the concept of diversion from criminal proceedings and the benefits that it would have to young people in conflict with the law. A review of the national legal framework in Bulgaria with the opportunities for implementing diversion as well as the realized activities under the AWAY project will be presented.

The webinar is part of the AWAY project, co-funded by the REC Program of the EU.

The webinar will be held on October 19, 2018. from 15.00 to 16.00 EET.

About the lecturers:

Dilyana Giteva graduated in Law from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in 1998. In 2003 she was awarded a scholarship of the Public Interest Law Initiative Program (PILI) in the Columbia University School of Law in New York. She also participated in a number of trainings on human rights, children’s rights and protection against discrimination.

Since 2000 Dilyana Giteva has been working as a lawyer, member of Sofia Bar Association.

 Dilyana Giteva has been a leader and coordinator of over 20 projects, such as: “Strategic litigation for protection of human rights and protection against discrimination”, “Monitoring the human rights in Bulgaria”, “General measures for execution of the judgments of ECHR against Bulgaria”, “Fair Administrative Justice”, and others.

Dilyana Giteva is author of a number of articles and publications and has an extensive experience as a lecturer at conferences and seminars related to the international human rights standards, children’s rights and protection against discrimination. She participated in working groups for elaboration of draft laws, as well as analyzes of the Bulgarian legislation and proposal for amendments, aiming to achieve compliance with the international human rights standards.

Joana Terzieva has a Master degree in Social - educational work and Probation with offenders from the University of Sofia. She is certificated psychodrama therapist. Since 2008 she is in psychoanalitical training and since 2014 she is  registerd analyzant in Bulgarian Psychoanalitical Sociaty.

Between 2005 and 20014 Joana Terzieva works as social worker and psychotherapist in community based social services in the town of Ruse where she is applying clinical social work for children with delinquency. Since 2014 she works as freelance psychoanalytical psychotherapist and consultant on Children’s Rights.
