A training, ‘High-Conflict Divorce and Alienation from Parents’, was held at the premises of the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb, within which the INSPIRE strategy for combating violence against children (WHO, UNICEF, End Violence against Children, et al.) was presented.

In the beginning of 2019, within the Child Protection Hub project, experts and trainers from partner countries participated in a three-day training of trainers on the INSPIRE work model. The aim of the training was to provide knowledge to experts and decision makers about this strategy. Ana Marija Spanic, a psychologist at the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb, participated in this three-day training organized in Georgia.

Ana Marija wanted to inform experts about the INSPIRE strategy for combating violence against children in the local community, but also wanted to provide certain knowledge and skills to social care professionals that can be applied when working directly with beneficiaries. Speaking with social workers, Ana Marija learned that the topic of alienation from parents is a current and demanding issue for professionals.

During the one-day local training, experts were informed about the Child Hub and INSPIRE model, but also received practical information on the types of alienation and their relevant interventions. Participant feedback showed a great satisfaction with the training and the information received, and experts hope there will be a next meeting.
