It is acknowledged that childhood experiences greatly affect the individual's personality way before adulthood. The studies have shown the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACE) on adult's health and the ACEs are classified into three categories which are abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction.

According to the foundation, the more ACEs a child encounters, it is likely to have more risk of negative health outcomes. Besides, it could lead to "behavioral issues such as alcoholism or drug abuse or physical and mental health issues such as depression and a higher risk of heart disease, cancer, and stroke". For Instance, children who have 4 or more ACEs tend to suffer from alcoholism 7.4 times more likely and a stroke or heart disease twice as likely.

To educate people on this topic, the Ardmore Behavioral Health Collaborative partnered with Ardmore Literacy Leadership held a virtual screening of the documentary "Resilience" which is mainly about ACEs, ways to treat and avoid stresses that can lead to adverse health effects.
