This National Survey on Antigypsyism in Kosovo is the first of its kind everywhere. It is therefore a very important tool and methodology, not only for Kosovo, as a participating country, but for all other countries in the Western Balkans and Europe beyond, where antigypsyism is widespread as a limiting factor of life for Roma ( in Kosovo, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian populations).
The research was commissioned by a Consortium consisting of: Voice of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians Kosovo; Ter des Hommes Kosovo, HEKS / EPER, as an auxiliary agency of the Swiss Protestant churches; and the Office for Good Governance, Office of the Prime Minister in Kosovo. Antigypsyism is a complex phenomenon that operates in a variety of ways that permeate institutional practices, norms, procedures, and policies, thus hindering the functioning of democratic institutions, thus producing and reproducing inequality between Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians, and the rest of society, and stigmatizing the identity of these groups.
The purpose of the national research on antigypsyism in Kosovo is to investigate the roots and manifestations of antigypsyism, its negative impact on the social inclusion of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians and to identify possible solutions to integrate into larger project activities and policies. of government.
The National Survey on antigypsyism in Kosovo aimed to explore the understanding of the general public about the three ethnic minority groups, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians, to identify and try to understand the foundations of the prevailing discriminatory beliefs held by others towards these minority groups .
