No PUBLIC HEALTH without REFUGEE and MIGRANT HEALTH

WHO has published the first ever report on the health of migrants and refugees in Europe, stating there is no risk of diseases for the settlement population, addressing the myth that refugees and migrants are passing diseases to domestic population. However, the report noted a few areas where improvement is needed, especially in relation to ensuring vaccination to all refuges and migrants. The report covers WHO European region and provides an overview of the refugee and migrant trends and health policies, evidence on the health of migrants and refugees. It goes on to discuss steps and measures to make health systems refugee and migrant-friendly, as well as to ensure universal healthcare, concluding with the vision for health of refugees and migrants in the WHO European region – lessons learned, implementation of the Strategy and Action plan, and a new collaborative way forward ‘The Migration and Health programme’.
