The National Crime Agency of the UK has published data on the number of potential victims of trafficking referred in to the National Referral Mechanisms in 2015. The report does not provide analysis of the picture of human trafficking in the UK, it provides figures relating to the number of potential victims.
The report finds that there has been a 40% increase in the number of referrals of potential victims in 2015 compared to 2014 figures.
It also finds that the potential victims come from 102 different countries of origin. Though the top three countries of origin were Albania, Vietnam and Nigeria. The largest increase from a single country has been the number of potential victims from Sudan, which saw a large increase over the previous years.
Finally, the most common exploitation recorded has been for labor exploitation.
