The training ‘Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergencies’ organized jointly by the WHO and UNICEF offices in Albania, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, aims to equip first-line professionals with a basic understanding of concepts, knowledge and tools to protect and improve people’s mental health and psychosocial well-being in the midst of an emergency.

It is designed in 8 separate modules, delivered weekly (every Thursday at 3 pm CET, starting from 28 May 2020), covering the following 8 topics:

  • Introduction to mental health in emergencies.
  • Cross cultural issues and human rights protection during humanitarian emergencies.
  • Setting of mental health and psychosocial programs in emergencies.
  • Community-based mental health and psychosocial support for children and adolescents in humanitarian emergency settings.
  • Sexual and gender-based violence during humanitarian emergencies.
  • Stress related disorders during humanitarian emergencies. Grief, loss, and depression.
  • Severe mental disorders, substance use related disorders and epilepsy.
  • Building Back Better
