As part of the project "Preparing Schools for Social Cohesion" in 2023, teachers from 33 schools in Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions received skills in first aid, recognizing signs of stress, and mastering non-violent communication.

"Two teachers from each school attended a three-day training. We taught them how to work with conflicts, negotiate, and how to take care of themselves and others. In other words, to spread the culture of non-violent communication and a healthy psychological atmosphere at school," says Anzhela Starovoitova, a non-conflict communication trainer.

After completing the trainings, the participants received all the training materials and are now conducting similar trainings for their colleagues in the communities. This format of cascading trainings allows us to reach a large number of educators, and within the project, we plan to provide about 700 teachers with psychological knowledge to work with schoolchildren.

At a time when there is a shortage of psychologists in schools and psycho-emotional support is needed more than ever, teachers are very enthusiastic about attending such events. The next step is to organize events for parents.

The project is implemented by Terre des Hommes Foundation in Ukraine with the financial support of the EU4ResilientRegions - Special Assistance to Ukraine Program, implemented by the German Federal Company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Government.
