Many parents find it harmful, when their children play video games considering that it involves sitting in day bedroom all day. However, nowadays there are quite a lot of video games designed in a way to make kids move, jump or dance. This way computer games can get better judgement among parents.
How does it work?
It's all about your on-screen character trying to imitate your movements, such as jumping, dancing or doing some sport. Although lots of people wouldn't consider gaming as kind of a fitness activity, in a sense it can mean some real exercise, which children really enjoy, just like if they were outside.
There are various tools to use while playing, like motion-sensitive controllers, Playstations or Kinects, but you can also use a normal controller or a smartphone.
What to play?
It all started with Wii Sports in 2006, that showed the generation how to play bowling, tennis, boxing, golf and baseball virtually. These kind of games are under development from day to day.
Jump Rope Challange is for example a free Nintendo Switch game in which you try to earn lots of points. Another one is Just Dance, a game for Sony PlayStation, but can be played with other gadgets too. In this game you move in time to a song, a music, to get as many poits as you can. You have to learn the required dance moves, and the game detects your motions. These games are only two examples, here is a list of fitness video games that offer a wide range of ways to stay fit.
The important thing is to teach children how to balance their time spent with the screen or outdoors. It is recommended to set the time limits so that your child won't become addicted to the screen.
