The first Training of Trainers (ToT) for justice professionals was held for representatives from Morocco and Tunisia on 25–26 March in Strasbourg. The Council of Europe (CoE) reported that the EU-supported event integrated the CoE Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Programme, and was organized under the ‘Ensuring sustainable democratic governance and human rights in the Southern Mediterranean’ (South Programme III).

This was an important milestone for the HELP Programme, as it was the first time HELP had reached outside CoE borders in the areas of child-friendly justice, violence against women, human trafficking, and data protection. The course on child-friendly justice by Mehdi Remili, a specialist from the Human Dignity and Gender Equality Department, and the Directorate General of Democracy, can be found along with the other respective courses at this link.

The objective of HELP is to build the capacity of legal professionals to apply international human rights standards on a daily basis. Focused on providing participants with practical skills, HELP’s methodology is adapted to the needs of its respective audiences. The sustainability of the project is reflected in its long-term goal: ToT participants can return to their countries of origin as tutors spreading HELP’s knowledge.

The full HELP catalogue of courses is available here.
