The teachers in Lebanon had been trained in digital technology and were ready to deliver their virtual classes to the students staying at home. With the help of Theirworld – DOT (Digital Opportunity Trust), the teachers of Mtein and Talabaaya public schools had been receiving training on how to use digital technology and prepare their own content. They had the possibility to adapt to the current situation rapidly because of all the experience they had gained during the last three years. Not every child had the access to e-learning, therefore Theirworld had managed to provide tablets to the children in the crucial grades 8 and 9. The parents were also asked to help their children by learning the usage of the tablets and commit to the online sessions which came out as a very successful experience.
"Theirworld's project filled the gap in the role of schools due to the Covid-19 outbreak. It contributed at an educational and social level for teachers and students. It helped students to depend on themselves to prepare and answer assignments." - Iitidal Falha, teacher
The parents appreciated the programme set, commitment, and seriousness among school management and considered distant learning as a good alternative. After months of lockdown, the schools in Lebanon started to reopen recently. The parents and the teachers were happy to continue the classroom learning but this time, the teachers will work with groups of fewer numbers of students while the students will spend 80% of their time at school and 20% at home.
