Georgie, 17, shared her challenges with loneliness and her use of social media to deal with it. She also shared crucial information about the importance of staying safe on social media and being responsible (being careful about sharing personal information with others).

According to Georgie, being on lockdown for the first few weeks can be seen more as a blessing, you can enjoy having time to yourself without the expectation of going out and meeting people or spending hours at school, of course for those who struggle with social anxiety. You also have more time for yourself, for your family and you feel less drained. However, things changed when the two weeks turned into two months and you realized that over time, you lost your friends because you could not communicate.

So, she suggests as she other also can manage loneliness by trying to connect with new people on online platforms such as Twitter and Twitch which you can share your opinions, passions on any kind of topic and see other people streaming and interacting with them, as well as other people in the chat. If you have other people with whom you can talk about something in common, you will feel less lonely during this lockdown.
