Due to the pandemic situation, most schools in England have been closed, with the exception of special schools for Key Worker children and for children considered to be at risk.
According to the SEND staff, they are more at risk in this situation and need to be prioritized for COVID-19 vaccination. Despite the extensive measures that have been laid down to keep the transmission rate as low as possible, it is difficult to comply with these rules as many pupils do not understand the social distancing and some of the pupils find it very distressing (hitting the teachers) when teachers wear a mask because they cannot recognize their teachers. In addition, routine situations (diaper or pad changes, physical restraint) require staff to "get up close and personal" with students.
In light of all these challenges, teachers refuse to accept the negative news about their work while continuing to work in a situation where 1,000 people die every day from this virus and demand that their concerns about safety be heard.
