UN have released 8 new animated characters – Climate Action Superheroes - on a mission to protect the planet. The aim is to empower children worldwide and boost the drivers towards sustainability by 2030.
Focuses are on children under 12, as the lifelong behaviours are shaped at an early age and they hope that by providing knowledge and tools to help recycle, save water and energy. They give advices for youngsters to take actions themselves, and their families.
The characters used by the UN are the following:
- Energy Expert, Recycle Ranger, Green Guide and Water Wizard - they allprovide them fun missions
- the seagreen-colored titan, Fashion Fixer shows how not to be wasteful when it comes to clothing
- Due to covid-19, they encourage kids to make their own facemasks from recycled fabrics
- Truth Talker’s responsibility is to give information about the climate change and communication during pandemic, also it stands for anti-bullying and makes kids talk to each other
- a simple quiz about the climate change with answers and explanations is also available for kids
The concept of the campaign comes from students at Parson School of Design, home to UN Headquarters. They take part in a global executive programme that focuses on leading creative change.
Nearly one million climate actions have already been logged through the campaign’s mobile app, and more and more people are joining in to make changes in their daily life.
