Serbia is one of the 4 countries in the region where the REVIS project "Responding to Violence against Children in Schools and Adjacent Settings" is being implemented.
During November and December, a curriculum is being piloted, which was specially developed for this project and is actually a Guide for workshop work with children, on the topic of the relationship between social and gender norms and peer violence.
Piloting is taking place in 2 schools in Serbia, in Šid and Kraljevo, while the other 8 schools will start their activities with students in January 2022.
According to the Facilitator from the pilot schools, the teachers who lead these workshops, the children are highly motivated and participate in all activities, get acquainted with social and gender norms and go through the process of discovering the impact of these norms on peer violence.
One of the most important impressions is that children recognize very well that they receive messages about norms from parents, family, peers and social media. It is interesting that their generation does not recognize the "media" as a reference group, but "social networks" (for young people, television is less a source of influence, and no one reads the press and does not mention or recognize it at all).
The partner organization implementing this project in Serbia is the Center for Youth Integration.
