10 years after the start of implementation of inclusive education in Moldova, APSCF investigated the impact of this process and the role of the NGOs engaged in its deployment. The research was carried out in 20 schools (10 schools that benefited from NGOs’ support and 10 schools that implemented the inclusive education without the support from NGOs), included 400 pupils (200 typical pupils and 200 pupils with special educational needs) and involved interviews, surveys and 10 focus groups with over 100 people.
The condition of success in implementing inclusion is an open and tolerant attitude of teachers, social workers and the community in general. The research shows that most parents, students and pedagogues from piloted schools support inclusion. Moreover, pupils with special educational needs who have learned in inclusive schools made relevant progress in development and relationship.
The research was carried out within the project "Civil Society Education Fund 2016-2018 in Moldova", implemented by APSCF with the financial support of Global Campaign for Education.
