The paper highlights the main critical ethical considerations regarding the research on child sexual exploitation present in the relevant literature and suggests some potential approaches to the topic. The author underlines that both the literature and existing guidelines have focused on general research involving children consequently the paper attempt to look at the specificities of the research on child sexual exploitation.

The author concluded that due to the participants involved and the risks towards them, ethical research on child sexual exploitation requires additional awareness. The topic requires ‘live’ ethical guidelines that can be updated regularly according to the technological changes and the ongoing discussion and reflection on research that involves children on child sexual exploitation.
