Single-parent families are distinguished and become an important factor in many social areas and issues today in Croatia. But poor material opportunities, insufficient care of the state, raising children, and wearing all the demands of professional and parental roles are just some of the problems facing a one-parent family in the contemporary world. The manual "For" and "About" single-parent families consists of five parts. The first, introductory part, provides an overview of single-parent families in the world and in Croatia: statistical features, trends, problems with which single-parent families world and Croatian research shows. The second part deals with the topic of communication, the characteristics of quality communication and the obstacles to quality communication. In the part about the prevention of behavioral disorders, there are some of the risky and protective factors for the development of behavioral disorders, the influence of self-esteem and self-confidence on the development of children, as well as the style of parental education. The Addiction and Parental Behavior section provides an overview of alcohol, tobacco and drug dependence and the relationship between dependence and the quality of family life.
