WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE STOP PUTTING PEOPLE IN BOXES?

This is a very powerful video, produced by TV2 Denmark. It comes in the form of a 3 minutes social experiment who first tends to group people based on one or two common characteristics but then tries to find what do they all have in common, which brings to a natural mingling between these groups.

The human psyche tends to categorise other human in stereotyped categories. This in itself helps in selecting and memorising information, allowing for the cognition to better function. But the risk behind doing this produces stereotyping others by putting them into categories, "boxes", which often result into negative thinking. This creates a great gap between people and leads to prejudgement and discrimination.

The video helps people open their mind when judging and creating opinions about others; beyond the first look, beyond the first impressions. It is a powerful tool to understanding, expectance and tolerance for the menkind.
