The SKILD Center (an educational initiative in Lebanon) has created online learning material for children with special educational needs. It supports children, parents and teachers who struggle to access education and special help during lockdown.

They have started to create educational videos and are aiming to build a library of resources to help children in these difficult times. Each week they are planning to release ten videos on their Facebook page and Youtube channel. These concentrate for example on improving motor skills, speech and cognitive abilities. Experts in special education, speech and behaviour therapy are contributing to the material. Parents of children with special educational needs are also taking part in creating videos to share their experience.

Theirworld is also participating in other similar projects to help people access learning materials during lockdown:

  • in Uganda and Tanzania, distributing materials to children with no internet connection at home
  • in Kenya and Nigeria, helping teachers with online education
  • virtual summer activity packs for refugee children in Lebanon

The mission of Theirworld is to help children and teachers who lost direct access to education during lockdown in various countries, helping almost 20,000 learners with the supported projects, mainly in the Middle East and Africa.
