The article of WMN written by Dori Dian was written based on the roundtable discussion of Terre des hommes Foundation on 25th May, on the day of missing children.

Each year 18,000 reports of missing children are being made. 30% of these are found within the day, another 30% within the week, 35% within a onth, while 5% remain missing past 90 days. While often children in state care go missing, we need to know that children may be trafficked, exploited either while going missing, or this may be the original cause of them going missing. The professionals at the Tdh event pointed to several gaps in the Hungarian social system, that lead to many children going missing: there is no attachment they can build with staff- staff where retention is really low, where conditions are far from good, and placement in special child care institutions has a 4-year waiting list.
