On January 25th Council of Europe together with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova held a workshop on adapting the HELP online course on child-friendly justice into Moldovan legal order. The workshop was the first step in the process of launching the course in Moldova. The next steps will include testing the online course with a selected group of judges and prosecutors, planned to take place later this year.
HELP is a European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals aiming to provide support to the Council of Europe member states in implementing the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) at the national level. The programme acknowledges training and adequate support for legal professionals involved in protection of human rights and especially those working with victims is crucial for them to deliver good quality results and services. HELP programme is an important part of this, designed to build capacities of judges, lawyers and prosecutors and enable them to apply ECHR in their work on a daily basis.
HELP has three main components:
- The pan-European Network of national training institutions for judges, prosecutors and lawyers
- An e-learning platform on human rights, including online courses on alternative measure to detention, child-friendly justice, refugee & migrant children among many others. To access the courses, click here.

The HELP Guidebook on Human rights training methodology for legal professionals has been produced, it is available here. The Guidebook provides details about the human rights training, instructions and recommendation on developing online courses in human rights related topics, from design to evaluation. Finally, the document details how to become an active member of the HELP network and benefits from using the HELP platform and resources it offers.
