In early November of 2020, meetings of the Steering Committees (Association of FBiH and Association of RS) were held, along with an extended meeting of the Board of the Association of Social Workers and Other Social Workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with representatives of the OSCE Mission to BiH, UNICEF and Save the Children. The activities of the associations were discussed at all levels with the aim of developing and promoting the profession.

Special attention was paid to the social protection system during the pandemic/emergency circumstances. The need for clear, effective solutions and responses to social protection reform in BiH was also a focus. The goal is to increase the flexibility of the social protection system in times of crisis, and to shorten the response time despite increased and changed demands of beneficiaries and other persons in a state of social need. This can be achieved through increasing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of procedures for the recognition of rights, provision of social services and other social support measures, and improving multi-sectoral and common models of government to synchronize support and increase the system's capacity to respond to crises.

In accordance with the recommendations of the crisis headquarters, some experts physically attended the conference, and the wider professional public had the opportunity to follow the conference via the online platform, Zoom.

The current status of the draft and proposed social protection laws at the federal level were also presented.

The conference furtherore highlighted topics such as supervision, migration, and existing human resources in the system of social and child protection in BiH.
