The Party of European Socialists (consisting of the Socialist, Social Democratic, Labour and Democratic Parties from all around Europe), aims to preserve values like democracy, freedom, equality and justice. Which is why it acts in the child-protection sector, declaring that migrant and native-born children should be treated equally, without discrimination based on their origin.

Many people attended the recent Party of European Socialists’ public conference, including the minister of home affairs of Malta, and Members of the European Parliament.  Miriam Dalli, a Maltese MEP from the Socialists & Democrats, stated that we should always keep in mind that we are talking about children, no matter what their origin might be. Javier Moreno, also a MEP, mentioned that offering ‘protection and inclusion’ will benefit all of society. The Maltese Minister of European Affairs & Equality, Edward Zammit Lewis, referred to achieving the acclimatization of migrant children through specific and helpful educational programs. Social diversity is a tool to success. We should pursue it.
