A school-district investigation was launched for physical assault at the school in Gyöngyöspata. One of the leaders pressed a 12-year-old child against the wall with force, causing bruises on the child’s body- said the mother, who witnessed the assault. In October, a petition was initiated by parents, requesting the removal of the person concerned in the case.

During the school-district investigation, the person concerned and the mother were also heard.

The mother filed a complaint with the police, but hundreds of parents stood by her because Roma and non-Roma parents were equally dissatisfied with the schools’ leadership.

Segregation litigation is already underway against the Nekcsei Demeter Elementary School in Gyöngyöspata. Between 2004 and 2014, Roma students were illegally segregated, and this segregation led to lower education for Roma children.

Currently, the Gyöngyös Police Station has launched “criminal proceedings against an unknown perpetrator on suspicion of assault”.
