The EU JUSTICE PROGRAMME Project „Procedural safeguards of accused or suspected children: improving the implementation of the right to individual assessment” (IA-CHILD) partners kindly invite you to attend the final conference for the project IA-CHILD, taking place June 30th (Wednesday), 9.00 GMT+2, 2021. The event is dedicated to close the project which was aimed at exploring the legal regulation and practice regarding the individual assessment of suspected or accused children in criminal procedure in four EU (project partner) countries and sought to contribute to more effective implementation of Directive (EU) 2016/800.

The final project event seeks to bring together the community of researchers and practitioners and conduct a discussion on the main topics of individual assessment, as well as present the results of the project and the Handbook on individual assessment. Carefully selected speakers, knowledgeable in the individual assessment will discuss such essential topics as the problem of risk assessment of children, the various assessment techniques, the psychiatric perspective on individual assessment and other relevant subjects. The team of lecturers consists of representatives from institutions such as the University of Osijek, Croatia, the Norwegian Directorate for children, youth and family affairs, Loughborough University and even a hospital for the forensic child- and adolescent psychiatry.

Most notably, the participants will be invited to partake in interactive moderated discussions, placed in between the variety of presentations held by field professionals.

  • The importance of speaking the language of the (delinquent) juvenile; Psychiatrist’s working at the hospital for forensic child perspective on the IA - Alexa Rutten Psychiatrist.

The conference is organized by the Law Institute of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences (Lithuania), the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Zagreb (Croatia), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), HFC Hope for Children Policy Center (Cyprus). The event is part of the EU co-funded project „Procedural safeguards of accused or suspected children: improving the implementation of the right to individual assessment”(IA-CHILD).
