The project Justice at last – European action for compensation for victims of crime aims to enhance access to compensation for trafficked persons and victims of related crimes. For victims of crime, the right to compensation is recognised and well established in EU legislation. The project aims to identify and analyse remaining barriers to access remedies, as well as needs and best practices on how to overcome such barriers. It further intends to equip professionals with knowledge and skills on claiming and providing assistance for obtaining compensation and to raise awareness amongst professionals, policy makers, service providers and victims of crime in Europe.

Open Gate implemented a media campaign in the period of November - December 2019 aimed at incleasing the publics knowlege about - What is a state fund for compensation  and what does that mean for the victims - the campaign gathered statements from important changemakers from CSO's and instututions in a series of videos and multimedia designs all speaking on the topic of the right to compensation for victims of trafficking.

❝The victim receives recognition from the state that a crime has been committed against her, that the state is aware of that crime and that she is a victim, and the state wants to compensate her for the damage done.❞

#Compensation for victims of trafficking means hope for a new beginning in life
