ABOUT OVERVIEW OF THE WEBINAR:

Community-based prevention involves interventions organized towards changes in social conditions that influence the occurrence of behavioral problems, emotional problems and risky behaviors of children and young people. Through strategic planning, all stakeholders in the local community provide the foundations for positive and healthy development of children, young people and adults. One such dynamic system of community based prevention is the American Communities That Care model authored by Hawkins and Catalano (1999) from the University of Washington, investigated in detail in Croatia. The model represents one of the world-renowned strategies for activating communities. It uses local data on risk and protective factors that define preventive investment priorities and implement effective programme interventions. Webinar will cover some basic principles of community-based prevention and present the experiences of implementation of the CTC Youth Survey instrument for examining risk and protective factors for the development of behavioral disorders in children and young people in various cities in Croatia.
